Birth of Impressionism: Masterpieces from the Musée d'Orsay
A private- docent led tour at the de Young Museum

When: Wednesday, September 1, 2010 Departing by 7:00 AM from the Performing Arts Center (next to San Mateo High School), 600 N. Delaware Street, San Mateo. Students will be returned to their home campus to resume afternoon classes for the afternoon.

Cost: $20 made out to SMUHSD GATE Parents (Scholarship fee waivers are available upon request).

To Register: Send completed San Mateo Union High School District Parent Consent Form (download) and $20.00 check payable to SMUHSD GATE Parents to: GATE-Birth of Impressionism, 650 N. Delaware Street, San Mateo, CA 94401. Applications must be received by 2:00 p.m.on August 24 2010.

E-mail confirmations will be sent by August 27, 2010.

Registration Each school is allotted an equitable number of spaces based upon a distribution formula. SMUHSD GATE no longer uses a first come first served method of selection. The order of your application will have not impact upon selection.

This trip will fill quickly as we have a limited number of spaces.

Cancellations: There are no refunds for this trip due to the limited enrollment period before the program. If you are selected for the program you cannot cancel or exchange you place.

Check Return: If you are not selected for the program and would like your check returned, please include a stamped self-addressed envelope with the application. All other checks of non-selected students will be destroyed.

The SMUHSD GATE program has arranged a private pre-opening small group docent led tour of the Birth of Impressionism: Masterpieces from the Musée d'Orsay exhibit at the de Young Museum. These docent led tours will enable our GATE students to deeply engage with this fabulous exhibition. After the private tour, our students will have free time to explore the other exhibits within the museum on their own.
The de Young is proud to be the only museum in the world to present two consecutive special exhibitions from the Musée d'Orsay in Paris. The first exhibition, Birth of Impressionism: Masterpieces from the Musée d'Orsay will be followed by Van Gogh, Gauguin, Cézanne and Beyond: Post-Impressionist Masterpieces from the Musée d'Orsay. The SMUHSD GATE has secured docent led tours for both exhibits.

SAT Prep Courses

This popular SAT test preparation review course is the least expensive, most comprehensive and helpful SAT prep course you'll ever take! The course provides complete classroom study in verbal and math skills, test-taking strategies, includes essay writing practice and critiques. All student study materials, based on The Official College Board SAT Study Guides, are included in the course fee. Our veteran instructor is Ms. Nicole Cerra, B.A. English Literature and Language (UC Davis), Masters of Education (UC San Diego), English teacher (Capuchino HS since 2005) and has taught SAT Prep for numerous years. This SAT Prep Class is offered several times a year by the GATE Parents Group at a significantly lower cost than commercial programs. The proceeds from these courses are reinvested back into our SMUHSD schools through programs and grants given to our teachers. Plus, GATE students qualify for a discount. Why go anywhere else and pay more?

Morning course 9AM - 12PM
Afternoon course 1-4PM
Aug 28, Sept 11, Sept 18, Sept 25 and Oct 2. Please note that there is a break for Labor Day weekend.

Cost: $250 GATE student, $325 non-GATE student for mail-in payment option. Online credit card payment will include PayPal processing and credit card fees. Mail in payments are accepted when check is received and if space is available. Onsite registration will incur an additional $25 and only if space available. Cancellation fee of $25 is non-refundable if cancelled prior to one week from first day of class. On-line registration is REQUIRED.
