SMHS Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) & Foundation

Who We Are

The SMHS PTO & Foundation is an active, all-volunteer parent group whose mission is to support families, teachers & staff by: 

1. raising funds to ensure enriching academic experiences and promising futures for all SMHS students, and 
2. fostering communication and connection between SMHS & its families.

Every current parent, guardian, teacher & staff member of SMHS is automatically a member.

What We Do

• Fund programs and initiatives through the SMHS Foundation for Excellence that support excellence in education for all SMHS students.  Donate now!
• Facilitate communication between SMHS and families via meetings, daily bulletin emails and special announcements
• Strengthen school community & Bearcat Pride by:
  • hosting appreciation events for teachers, staff, administration & volunteers
  • encouraging involvement and volunteerism at SMHS
  • coordinating a grad night event
  • offering a series of informative parent education speakers
  • sponsoring college scholarships & access to school activities for all students
  • hosting biannual Bearcat student awards

What You Can Do

Donate:

• Contribute to Annual Giving to support academics and extracurriculars  for all students, plus community building and teacher appreciation
• Attend the Bearcat Benefit on January 25, 2025 - a fun, annual fundraising party with student performances, food & drink, auctions & more

Stay informed:

• Sign-up for the Daily Bulletin email
• Check out the SMHS Calendar  - Look here for sports schedules, arts performances, PTO and other booster meetings, holidays and more

Get involved:

• Come to our PTO Parent Education events, including:

  • Wednesday, August 27, 2025:  Parent Meet and Greet with SMHS Administrative Team (7-9pm SMHS Library)

  • Tuesday, October 28, 2025:  New Driver Safety presentation for parents and students (7-9pm SMHS Library).

  • Tuesday, March 24, 2026:  College Admission Presentation for parents (7-9pm SMHS Library).

  • Wednesday, May 6, 2026:  "Heart of the Bearcat"  Service Awards and celebration.
