Advisory/Tutorial

At San Mateo High School, all students are enrolled in a Tutorial period which takes place on Wednesdays and Fridays. During this 50-minute period, students have the opportunity to meet with teachers and get additional support to ensure they can demonstrate proficiency on the skills and content within each of their classes. Although students are placed in a “Home” Tutorial, students are able to obtain a pass from any of their teachers, so they can get support on a particular day.

Tutorial is a part of the regular school day and students are held to the same participation and behavioral standards as in their academic classes. Additionally, all school-wide student attendance and behavior expectations are in effect as part of the Tutorial period.
