Intensive Literacy Support

The SMUHSD Intensive Literacy Support Class is a course for students with or without IEPs that have manifested reading disabilities/dyslexia. The course is based on a course developed by Dr. Jarice Butterfield in the Santa Barbara Unified School District for struggling secondary readers. Research on the outcomes of the course revealed that students at the secondary level can make progress and improve their reading skills if provided intensive, individualized reading instruction.
